We're considering a move to the Baltimore, MD area however I get the impression that it's very expensive and not necessarily a great place for families unless we make $100K or more to live in a decent neighborhood. We have 2 small children and plan on renting but I am wondering if it's even worth considering if we only have a $70K household income. Any comments about the real cost of living there would be appreciated!

Baltimore is one of the less expensive area in Maryland. If combine income is 70k living in Baltimore you and your family will be fine.

....you better not leave the city. the prices of homes here has gone through the roof!
