Connect other end of wires to the + and - posts on the battery and up they come.
Does that really work??? I thought that was an old wive's tale like snipe hunting or something?
I'm going to try that as I was just outside for an hour and didn't find a one.

Look out. PETA will show up on your lawn screaming cruelty. Of course, you could just offer them some fresh cooked trout and a side of fiddleheads to bribe your way out of it. Then you can blackmail them that they ate fish caught with the same worms they were trying to protect from electricution.

Pound a post a foot or two into the ground, then "saw" a piece of rough wood against it. Some people just hit the post repeatedly with a hammer. It brings the worms to the surface for several feet around the post. Supposedly this is the method professional bait companies use to collect worms.
