You know you live in Maine when... the lady at the water company reminds you to pick the mail waiting for you at the Post Office. This actually happened to me.

When you order checks from a bank when you are out of state and to save you money, they send them to the branch of your bank in Maine. To save me money! Imagine a bank concerned about saving me money

Sounds like my seasonal water bill in Eastport! I never heard of water being sold by the cubic foot....but then I never got a water bill from Maine either.

You know you're in Maine when houses on the same side of the street are numbered...1 Prince, 2 Prince, 3..........

You know you live in Maine when you look out the window at the sound of a car driving by and you always know who it is. If you for some reason don't know who it is you will find out the next time you go to the local store. You also always get up to watch a fire truck or police car go by and call you neighbors to make sure they are okay. (We now live in the city and of course none of this applies to us anymore but it sure did for most of our lives!)

Or you don't even have to get up because you know the car or truck by the sound!
