I love that the State of Maine illicits such devotion from such a diverse group of people. The Maine forum is a good example of that; but there are so many more who never get on a computer or visit a forum. There are outdoorsmen and woods men (and women) and artists and scholars, fishermen and farmers and merchants; there are asians and yankees and afro americans and Native americans and pacific islanders and africans; there are vegetarians and carnivors and young and old and conservative, libertarian, liberal and progressives and those who can't be bothered. There are churches and temples and meeting houses and ashrams. I love the diversity.

I have heard the commercial for RVs saying 'the sharpest pencil in town", but I do not recall hearing anything about big old fish.

What did Dick Stacey say? Something like "see these hands?" but it was about the way they smelled, not the way they looked.

How about "On the wings of a snoooooooow whiiiiiiiiiite dove...." Remember that? Down home television you can't forget (no matter how hard you might try).

Forest, it was a segment that aired Friday mornings on local NBC channel ( is that 2 up there, don't remember) that featured snapshots of little kids and the fish they've caught in Maine. Some were summer fishing, others were out on the ice. They always gave the name of the little kid, where he/she/they were fishing at the time and the size of the fish! It's adorable!

As bad as our roads are, you should go to Costa Rica and Nicaraqua and see how bad a road can be. It's a shame because they don't have the frost excuse.

That was 'quality' late night tv right there... probably best for another thread, as in remember country jamboree.
