Here is 5:50am radar. Snowing bigly there. That blue outline box is a heads up for whiteout conditions

Seeing signs that next week there may be another snowstorm for Maine. Damn, what a pattern. Don't ask exactly where and how much yet. Still 7 days away but the potential is there for another snowstorm

Nice start to the season for sure. Think it will keep going?

These were two solid days of snow and snow blowing. VERY heavy snow, moisture-wise.
We will definitely be having a white Christmas! And I bet the snowsledders will start coming this weekend.....a very early start to the season.

Route 6 is the "Trans-Maine Trail". The area referred to goes east from Lincoln to Topsfield. However, it continues east to the border at Vanceboro. The last store in Topsfield has closed. Gas up at Smith's Store in Springfield.

Where do you keep your sleeping bag? Is it in the attic? In winter, in Maine, it is a good idea to have a couple of sleeping bags in your vehicle. If you slide off the road you could wait a long time before somebody comes by. It's too far to walk to help and your cel phone may not work down in a valley. You do have winter boots in your vehicle, a good flashlight, candles, mittens and a portable radio. On a calm night, beware of carbon monoxide from an idling vehicle. Running your vehicle for a while for heat is OK if it is windy, but running it when it it calm can kill you.

From Route 6 to the ocean is 90 miles through the woods with just one paved road in between and that is the Airline or Route 9. This is not suburbia.

Just a question: does any one else notice that the weather conditions given on the radio are often wildly wrong? I will often listen to MPBN or other radio stations list current conditions around the state, and they are often the exact opposite of what's going on. What made me think of this is that (yet again) MPBN just told us that Caribou is currently cloudy, when it's actually sunny and clear for many miles around (I was on top of a big hill when I heard it).

Much of MPBN is automated. Forecasts could be 3 days old and were obsolete two days earlier. Citizen produced radio can report what it is doing at the moment. WXME out of Monticello has lots of local programming and can relate national events to the effects they can have locally.

Could use a bit of snow here in Bar harbor. Getting tired of this continuous unending rain. Was supposed to be clear today after 4 days of steady rain, but now its raining again. Tomorrow is now supposed to cloudy. Tuesday is supposed to be cloudy now, and then probably another rain event on Thursday.
