Looking to move to Maine, always wanted a house that came with enough land to hunt on. Any suggestions where to look, trying to stay in the south part of Maine

I'm not sure about in Southern Maine but I think the land between Bangor and Calias on Route 9 is beautiful and it's very undeveloped. We take that route to Nova Scotia and it's really spectacular.

You want to buy land in the southern part of the state with a house and enough land to hunt on? Boy that would be stretching it unless you had a lot of cash. That being said,if you do then I'm sure you'll be able to find it. The southern part of Maine has seen land values skyrocket and decreases incrementally as you head north.I live in the western mountains and we haven't seen the rise of cost per acre that the southern part has. I think this question can be better answered by MBM or NMLM as they seem to have a good handle on the real estate market in this forum. Good luck!

Where is a good place to Hunt in Maine? My husband is a big hunter and we own a Hunting and Fishing biz. We work with a hunting lodge in Dover-Foxcroft. Not sure of good fishing spots yet but I am sure there are many!

It is hard to find open rural land in the big city.

How far north are you willing to come?

Steve's salivating already. He called me earlier this week to tell me that he'd seen a dozen deer in his 30 minute drive to the office. When I tell him how many deer I've seen his standard question is, "Did they have antlers?" He has an any doe permit but he'd still rather take a buck. We out of venison. I'd really like to have one or two deer in the freezer.

What's the name?

Back to the original question... There are tons of places you could just buy minimal acreage and be a stones throw from tons of recreational land. If you get farther north, you can get larger parcels, but there are so many hunting and fishing opportunities nearby, it will take you years to access them all.
