But Elcarim, you came to a hunting thread. Didn't you think there'd be pictures from successful hunts? I understand why it's sad to some but it's a fact of life in Maine. There are moose hanging in trees on the reservation a few miles from here. It's part of a production line during the sustenance hunt that lasts about a month. This week there are moose being transported in the backs of pickups and on trailers as hunters take them home or to the butcher. When the deer season opens they'll hanging while they age before being butchered. It's hard to avoid the realities of our way of life.

I'm a little jealous bigchuckie. Nice moose! I really want to be drawn and have my chance.

Taking our teenager in to the highschool early for drill team practice, I drive by the 'Trading Post', every morning this week they have had moose hanging being weighed and moose on trailers waiting to be hoisted up and weighed. [with the exception of Tuesday when the trading post is closed].

The Alton woods, in particular, is known for it's atypical bucks!

Maine is where you learn the answers to life's great mysteries; such as, "Why did the chicken cross the road?"

To prove to the porcupine it could be done.
