I am going to paint our garage barn red this year (weather willing) and paint a large hex sign on the back end of it. It will be visible from down the road, from the road from town as well, I think. I am considering these two, from my current portfolio:
Regarding the stars, my understanding is that originally they were used for structural reinforcement on buildings (in the 18th and 19th centuries.) These were made of cast iron, wrought iron, or steel, and were used as tie plates serving as the washers for tie rods on brick or other masonry-based buildings.
I really like the second one. My grandmother an avid quilter made my parents a quilt with a pattern very similar to your design. I know it's weird a guy being into quilts etx, but it is a lost art. While I don't quilt I have an appreciation for those who can. My mom in her younger days made many quilts and put up for our weddings, children etc. She was once so good you could barely see her stitch. Man I am getting old!! I can remember the bid old loom set up in our living room when I was young.
We were down in S.E. Ohio earlier this year and everywhere I looked houses and barns had those stars on them. When I was shopping in Big Lots down there they had an assortment of all sizes. I know I wondered why they were so popular.

It's called collective individuality! Where people doing the same thing think they're being unique and individual. Like Harley owners. They all put on the loud exhaust pipes, wear dew rags, leather pants and vests, get tattoos, and call it being a free spirit and an individual. Here's a clue folks.... If everyone does it you are not unique!

I agree with you there. I like things that are unique and different because I like them, not because everyone else has them. Kinda makes ya think of those who have to "keep up with the Joneses."

Bingo.... you got the point exactly Alaskapat528!
I do find some people's individuality, while unique, perhaps a bit weird. The shopping cart pyramid in Gray comes to mind.

Ahh... what my K calls "a herd of 'rugged individualists'" LOL
