Has anyone ever heard of there being an Milfoil issue at Lake Arrowhead? My family and I are considering buying a home there. If someone could point me towards an answer, I would be greatfull.

Try the www.maine.gov site, they might have something there that could send you in the right direction. Start with LURC, it might be in that section. Good luck!

Can anyone give me any info. on Standish and/or Buxton? What kind of towns, how's the community, schools, etc. How are they in comparison to maybe Gorham, Yarmouth, Falmouth, Brunswick? Thx.

Default Milfoil

Yes, Lake Arrowhead in Limerick and Waterboro Maine is severely infested with milfoil. I live on the water and can tell you that there are spots where milfoil does not grow. I live in one of those spots. If you are buying waterfront property, go in the water and check for plants. If you plan to use the private beaches, the milfoil has been eradicated from the popular beaches with a technique that the State allows. This is with the use of tarps set for 6 weeks. If you own waterfront, you can also place tarps in the water to kill milfoil. You must let LAC know as this is state regulated. The LAC website is at Lake Arrowhead Community - Home

Feel free to contact me.

I am very interested in learning more about Lake Arrowhead and the surrounding community. I've heard some bad word of mouth about property on the lake. Can you discuss your experience as someone who lives there? Is the water o.k.? How's the sewage situation? How about the association? Any red flags to be aware of? We're looking at some property up there and were spooked away by some friends in the area.

If you value personal freedom, stay away from any property owner association unless it's just a road association. I had a relative who lived on Lake Arrowhead for a time. Not only do that have a property owner's association, they are part of the Saco River Corridor which is ruled by an unelected bureaucracy.

Default Maine family

Yes, like many lakes in New England, L. Arrowhead has milfoil, but a strong community association working at cleaning it up. Good place to live and retire. Maine is a lovely state.
