Having moved from Florida myself, you are in for some real fun. There are some real Maine things to get used to. Good Luck! You will like it here!

Starwalker did the best job of actually finding out what was available, any advice she gives, listen to it carefully. I remember her search for "internet."

Thanks... yea, even having been prepared by forum members and a visit before the move, it was an eye-opening, mind-bending (and even mind-numbing) experience! But my ability to make a good part of my livelihood, and my SO's sanity, depending on getting it right. And getting it right the FIRST time, as there was no second time.

I keep hoping, and crossing my fingers, when I hear of this initiative or that project, that the changes will happen and will be an improvement. I haven't seen anything yet and am not holding my breath, either.

thanks Maine4us. I shouldn't have too tough a time since I grew up in Dover-Foxcroft....although I have been in California for almost 24 years...just a few months in Florida. But I am sure things have changed since I was here last!

We have no cable in this township.

We are very fortunate to have DSL and cellphone coverage.
Bee,

Do they offer customers the ability to call anywhere in the USA and and talk as along as you'd like, all for a fixed monthly cost (I have that deal here, and pay about $75 a month for it)?

Right, I assume that all phone companies and cellphone carriers offer plans for unlimited long-distance.

How do you know it's 100mbps--I mean, where are you getting that information?

Try running a speed test: Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

We have Time Warner for internet and Dish for tv. My house in Dover is right on route 7 but just across the street about 3-400 feet down a dirt road is my brothers house. TW for me was free installation, his over $300.

Since you were online you probably already checked if your Abbot address is serviceable. Good luck neighbor.
