I talked to some from the neighborhood when I was at the store. Trouble is, they don't want to just be "on call" and want to come out an clear it any time we get a couple of inches. I don't NEED that... and yes, I am being a cheapskate. I am currently down one of my jobs and need to economize.

Their rationale is that if they don't KEEP it clear they have much harder work when they do come. They also want to keep it down to bare earth, or as close to it as possible. they are not willing to take into account that I like to shovel, enjoy doing so and would do it for any but the heaviest snowfall, so there would not be a huge build up... and that we DO have a Subaru. We don't need, and I would rather NOT have it down to bare earth because I don't want gravel pushed out of where it belongs.

Took me about 2 hours, slow and steady. I was layered up and did not feel the wind.

Could be a snowblower in your future.

There is a small tractor which has a snowblower attachment that needs work and a push blade that we at least have all the parts for... but the garage has been housing the Sub. while it got worked on and now it's too cold to work out there (for a bit at least).

With those tools, K will be able to help.

Got my tractor going

One of my tertiary methods of starting the tractor is a marine deep-cycle battery that I keep charged. I had carried it out and jumped it, after 15 minutes there was not enough amperage to do the trick. However after an hour of jumping there finally was enough.

Starwalker- If I had a trailer to haul my tractor, you know that I would be willing to custom plow your driveway for you.

Yes, Forest, and thank you for the thought. If we had a trailer that would haul your tractor and a truck to pull it, I would bring you and it over! Of course that would mean I would have to shovel first... hummmm... LOL

We would have been all set with getting our little tractors set up to plow and blow, except our fall prep time and energy got eaten up chasing horses...
