This would be common law from time immemorial. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. This person is ignorant of basic principles of neighborliness and of the concept of consequences.

I sure hope that guy that was coming to Bowdoin (today) from Connecticut decided to wait. We have about 8 to 10 inches of new snow and visibility on the interstate is horrible. I think the speed limit was dropped to 45 for most of the day - with good reason.

Southern Maine was a mess today until right around 3:30 or so. We got about 9"-10" of fluffy snow and now the wind is blowing it all over the place. We had to cancel our fried clam supper at the Amvets tonight....bummer. The somewhat elderly Veteran's crowd we feed certainly would not have been driving in the conditions we had all day long and probably weren't even plowed out anyway.
It was still a mess at 5:00 with cars off the road in several spots on the highway and secondary roads. Plowing the fluffy snow made the roads even slicker and the sand just sat on top of the snow. They needed straight salt but with budgets getting tight they weren't using it in many towns.

It has just stopped in the Lincoln area. I figure we got about 16 inches on the level. My house and garage are 10 feet apart and both have steep roofs. I have about 5 feet of snow there. It's well over half way up the garage door. I'll dig out in the morning.

I'm running out of room already to pile snow and will have to use the loader to move the snow piles to some holding area to make room for more. They're talking about yet another Nor'Easter for Tuesday or Wednesday of next week! I've had enough!

Bangor got 17.3 inches. Amity got 21 inches and we got our 16 inches in between there. Maybe we got more. I'm headed out to blow out some neighbor driveways. Lots of people are running out of places to put snow and I blow it nearly 50 feet with the Kubota.

What things should a person look for when looking at PTO snow-throwers to hang on a tractor?

And can they chew a phone-book?

I assume they are all 2-stage; 3-point hook-up. What else?

Most are 2 stage 3 point hitch machines. They can totally destroy a Bangor Daily Newspaper in 0.2 seconds. I have not tried phone books.

Considerations:

Make sure you can easily adjust the discharge chute from the tractor seat.

Make sure there are two shear pins; one on the auger drive and one on the PTO shaft. Not all have them.

Consider how easily these pins can be replaced in the dark.

I love my 5 foot snowblower. If I ever buy another tractor I'll get one with a midpoint PTO so I can run a front mounted snowblower.

Safety:

NEVER get off the tractor when the snowblower is running. It isn't worth the risk.

Never let anybody shovel snow into the snowblower.

Rocks will fly a really long way when thrown by a snowblower. Consider that when adjusting your discharge chute.

Plenty of room for it here! Another storm on the way for Wednesday it looks like. Bring it!
