That three hours depends a great deal on what road you are using.

Back roads? then yes I agree.

If you can use I-95 for any of it, then you rarely slow below 60mph.

My wife commutes using I-95. During snow storms on these backroads we pretty much slow down to 45, but 45 is the limit anyway. The freeway is always kept pretty clear.

YEs the intown parts of 95 are generally in good shape. If you travel 95 between Bangor and Clinton there are some parts of the road that dont see a plow till morning. Unfortunately for me I still have to travel thru it

I can not imagine why they would not be plowing I-95 South of Bangor.

To our observation I-95 is plowed routinely and very nicely from Bangor up to Howland; during every snow storm, maybe hourly, and periodically through out the day following every snow storm.

Being an Inter-state freeway, the road design and maintenance are Federally mandated. It is not at the discretion of a state or a city of when they want to plow the freeway.

I have lived a few times in Ct, for a few years each time; and I have seen a number of snow storms down there. The freeways always have snow plows going during a snow storm. It has no connection to the freeway passing through a city.

I remember when we lived in the Bangor area there were some places that got a lot of drifting snow between Bangor and Waterville. Depending on the wind, you just had no way to tell when the plow had been through. I was thinking that with the liquid solution they use now that might help. I had a friend a few years ago involved in an accident at that horrible Winterport exit--I'm surprised that they somehow haven't figured a way of improving that

Hard wind blowing snow sideways across the freeway is an issue.

I do not think that it makes any difference how often the plows go through, the wind will just keep blowing the flying snow across the freeway.

I certainly have seen such, and driven through it. It happens everywhere.

I would hate to be in a position whether city, county or state where I was responsible for trying to clear the roads during that kind of wind.

I wouldn't want that for a job either....I'm sure there are days were you'd just feel like no matter what, you couldn't keep up! and then knowing how many people are relying on you would just compound that for me!

it would be the yahoo's going 70 on an icy road,,almost clipping a snowplow,,that i wouldnt like,, and always passing them,,,,even if the left lane has a few inches of snow,,,,taking big chances,,
or when its slushy and one of your tires,,starts to plane,,,with no traction,,,almost sliding into the snowplow,,ive seen hundreds of near misses..

60mph on a road during a snowstorm is not safe. I have regularly driven 95 during a snowstorm and I stay around 30-40 mph. I have no desire to put my life or another persons life in danger so I can get home faster.
