Shifting locations a bit - can anyone tell me about Sunday River - that general area of Maine? Is it expensive to live there?
Thanks guys. Boy, this forum has been a WONDERFUL help in our search for the perfect place to reside with our family, hopefully in 2011!

The Bethel/Sunday River area has economical living outside of the middle of Bethel and away from the ski area. Both will still be nearby. The economy in the area is based on forest products, the ski area and the service industries that support both. There are lots of restaurants, hotels, B&Bs, a brew pub on the premises of the brewery, some farming and guide services. There is lots to do.

Bethel is nice. It is reverse of coastal Maine where everything hinges on summer activity. Bethel is a hub of winter activity. As NMLM said there are several nice restaurants in town, a nice hotel, several bed and breakfasts, a pretty little downtown area with scattered shops and what-not all very close to a bustling ski area which dominates the area. Bethel is worth a look.
