Macon-Bibb prospects for industrial projects looking up
At least two international aerospace companies and one food processor have taken a close look at Bibb County to possibly locate a facility here, Pat Topping, senior vice president of the Macon Economic Development Commission, said during Monday’s Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority meeting. These last six months have been extremely busy,” Topping told the authority. The international aerospace companies, which have shown strong interest in Bibb County, would create a total of 400 jobs and make investments of nearly $200 million if they opened facilities in Bibb. A food processor is looking for an existing building and would bring 50 jobs to the community, he said. Since the authority’s January meeting, six new prospective projects have been added, he said. The projects include five manufacturers and one food processor, and many of them would bring 100 or more jobs each.
