I am shocked that LA is ranked as one of the cities where where the recession is easing. This list mainly contains cities in Texas as well as cities located in smaller, less diverse states. I think it is a major feat that LA made this list.

I look at Forbes as an interesting read, but don't pay much attention to what it says;;that being said, I certainly hope this is right, they deserve a break...

Maybe so, but I know a lot of people that are out of work or just underemployed and barely making it. When those people have a change in their situation then I will agree. Then again maybe Forbes is basing their research on what will happen after some other factor kicks in. Who knows. Maybe I will actually read the article and find out. lol

Note the article says where the recession is "easing".......the biggest disconnect does seem to be our high unemployment rate (above the national average).

But as battered as our housing market is...it is certainly better than Vegas or Miami, etc. And the housing market was ONE of the metrics they looked at in their analysis. Also, LA County is "projected" to ADD jobs in 2010 (although not a huge number) and that was another factor they considered.

In addition, traffic at the LA-Long Beach port complex is up after a dismal 2009. THis is good news and international trade is a key driver in the LA economy. Thanks for the post...any good news is welcome!!!
