For example, no way can someone claim that Southgate is "eastside."

Whereas, Diamond Bar? Of course it's "eastside."

The "border" lies somewhere between the two.

The "border" is not along a meridian, it trends toward the SE from down town to the OC line. North of downtown it takes a sharp eastward turn, all the way to the San Berd'oo line.
