How bad is Compton? (Inglewood, Lynwood: sales, rent, roughest)

Seriously, are you guaranteed to be a victim of a crime by walking around at Night? No. The truth is crime statistics show that Comptom has a crime index of twice the national average (city data), so why take the chance if you don't need to?

No one is denying that fact. But again, statistics show Compton has a crime rate twice the national average. So statistically, where are you more likely to be shot, West LA or Compton.

Ok, white guy, whose dad grew up in the heart of East LA(and my grandmother lived there until she passed in the late 90's). Also had business to conduct in Compton the past few years. So I'm familiar with shady neighborhoods.

Compton is not the gang metropolis it is made out to be. That is very true. During the day you are pretty much safe there. Most of it is lower middle class families in small homes built in the 50's. Yes there is crime and no I don't want to live there, nor would most people who had a choice.

BUT, there are much worse areas of LA. In particular the area between Figueroa and about La Brea south of the 10 freeway all the way down to a bit south of the 105 is just horrible, with Western Bl being the worst part of it. I used to date a white/latina mix girl that lived near MLK and Western and I ALWAYS had to stay in the car and leave it running when she went to get in. No joke, if you broke down in that area, you WOULD be mugged.

And then don't get me started about the 105/110 area...especially where Grape Street runs.

And there are other worse areas than Compton as well. I just don't feel like listing all of them.

That's a huge area, and includes one of the best Black neighborhoods outside of the Baldwin Hills, which is Morningside Park in Inglewood. Not horrible by any stretch of the imagination.

A lot of people say Fig is the worst street on the west side of s.central. I know its a long street...but i have heard residents of the west side say that street is the worst on the west side.

Figueroa probaly is one the most shadiest streets of SouthCentral. It is filled with shady low life motels starting from Imperial all the way to USC. Many hookers and pimps work on that street in broad daylight. Not to mention it goes through some rough Gang territory (Denver Lane Bloods, Hoovers, Florencia and 18th Street)

you right it is one of the shadiest till the university or anything south of jefferson north of that place is like a different story or not like south of that area.
