Well i have more questions about the state.
where are there cheap affordable apartments for someone to live alone in La?

Is parking a problem there?
Is it hard to find work?
How long do you have to work in la before you can get an apartment?
Is it hard to find work?

Honestly, you need to be a lot more specific about what you're looking for. What type of work are you looking for? What's your definition of an "affordable" apartment? How much $$$ are you bringing with you?

If you can provide these kinds of details, you'll get much more informative responses.

Well i just meant cheap like i don't need some glamorous apt at first just something livable at first i don't know how much apt cost in La i just heard there expensive.
And by parking i mean i live in Texas there not big on parking meters and most buildings have there very own parking lot i just mean i don't have to pay for a parking garage like in new York is all.
As far as work right now i work in a bank doing customer service work i don't know what the jobs are like in LA so i don't know what type of work I'm looking for I'm good with computers and i have my RN but i don't want to work in a hospital or do that type of work any longer and I'm bringing about 5000 with me if not more.

The cheapest you will find a 1br or studio is about $800 and it might be in a not so nice location. Security deposit is usually the same as 1 month if you have decent credit. If you want to live in a 3br/2ba house expect to pay $2,000 and up minimum.

Go to Craigslist and look at the studio/bachelor and 1BR apartment. I think you can figure on at least $1,000/month (not including utilities) for something decent -- and that won't be in a terribly good area. Some buildings provide free parking, some have a lot which you'll have to pay to use (~$100/month?), some have nothing at all and you'll have to park on the street. You probably won't have to worry about parking meters where you live, but some areas have parking by permit only, and there are alternate side of the street rules which means you'll have to move your car every few days so the street cleaner can come through.

Between security deposit, first (+possibly last) months' rent -- yeah, $5,000 won't go very far -- especially if you don't have a job lined up ahead of time.

I can't help with salaries, except to suggest that you look at some online job sites and/or the Los Angeles Times classifieds to get an idea for the jobs that are available and how much they pay.

Best of luck!

No job? I'd at least double your savings before you come. As far as cheap goes, that's relative... expect to pay around 1000 for a 1 bedroom.
