Clear them at last and send them to Sacramento where hearts bleed and coffers are apparently, far too full.

And I don't think anyone advocates spending $350,000 per unit to shelter the homeless there are far cheaper options, such as tent encampments, or....we can just leave them on the streets and step over them, that's the choice we face.
Pretty sure there are no publicly available stats specifically on crimes by the homeless .

But ...

I’ll take the word of an LAPD detective .

“O’Connor said he believes the break-in is part of a larger trend of burglaries being committed by transients in the LAPD’s Van Nuys Division.

“We’re in the third week of February, and just about all of our burglary arrests from the calendar year have been transient suspects,” O’Connor said. “More of our suspects who are committing burglary and property crimes are transients. All you need is a rock to get inside a business. And what you stand to gain far exceeds your risk of getting caught. And even when you do get caught, the punishment is so minuscule, so it’s almost worth the risk.”

To the previous generations: Thanks for nothing.
All previous generations ? Even the ones that fought wars for our freedom and died for it ?

I don't buy it..not for burglaries anyway. Where do homeless people store what they steal, and how do they get it to the spot where they sleep? It's pretty tough to carry a 60" flat screen down the street for several miles without being noticed.

What did I just say about this $350,000 figure you keep throwing around? Did I say I support it..no, I didn't. I don't even know where the figure came from, for all I know it's in the conservative catechism, you know just like the meme that people who get SNAP benefits all have the latest Iphone

Again... the laws virtually demand that anyone who is a potential harm to themselves or others MUST be taken out of society until they are not ...and yes mental and emotional harm fall into that category. The laws also say that criminals should be in jail... two nifty places to put them based on needs of a civil compassionate society...and yeah, nice people should get treated better first.

No. A 5150 can be issued for someone who is a danger to himself or others. That's an involuntary psychiatric 72 hour hold.

Depends on what the "crime" is, actually.

That is absolutely untrue. The criteria for involuntary detention for a mental health evaluation is: "Is in immediate danger of harming himself or others or is gravely disabled". That is California law and there are similar laws in every state.
