Not sure what you are referencing about people using the 110 as a dividing line for the Eastside, the only part of LA that isn't east of the 110 and LA River (and that has a population of 'certain racists, transplants, and young people trying to sound "hard"') would be Chinatown and the Historic Core. Is that what you are referring to?
I was responding to R-Tistic. But the reference to "certain racists, transplants, and young people trying to sound 'hard'" referred to the practice of calling Silver Lake "eastside"

Oh okay I was just curious, not disagreeing really just thought it was curious you used the 110 as a marker, but makes sense because you were responding to someone.

The 110 is only eastside when it crosses the river by where it intersects with the 5.

Inglewood historically was in the South Bay, but over the years it got classified in with South Central/South LA.
Well not even about "young people trying to sound hard"...but most people I know would for sure say 110 = Eastside...and most of them/us don't even know where the L.A. river is, since it's not near where we live.

It's sort of a South Central thing, I'd say...and that probably means we also use "South Central" and not "South L.A." to describe where we are.

Put me down for La Cienega Blvd. being the border. Nothing says "You're in the Westside now" more than simply entering Beverly Hills. Maybe it's me being an outsider and all having been in town only about a half-dozen times but Fairfax and La Brea don't come off as "Westside" to me.

Yeah true , Fairfax and LaBrea I have always thought of as 'Mid City' basically the area between Downtown and the "Westside" . I grew up in Beverly Hills area and West L.A (specifically "Rancho Park" area)

Yes, I agree..fairfax and labrea area is mid city to me. Downtown is Downtown and east of downtown is the East Side.

I thought the Westside was wherever you had area code 310. West Hollywood is 323, isn't it? I know Beverly Hills is 310.

West Hollywood is mostly 310. A small part in the eastern section is 323.

310 is also much of the South Bay.
