I am in the interview process for a position that is located on wilshire blvd in Los Angeles. I am a young professional and will be looking for a studio apartment or 1br that is in a 30 min radius of my employer. I am looking for something safe and somewhat nice. My budget is about ~$1000 a month. What cities or apartment complexes would you guys recommend?

See what rapid transit serves the area where you will be working. A 30 min drive might only be a ten mile radius. But if a metro or something goes to near your work, then you might have a greater radius.

Is the company located in Santa Monica or Los Angeles? There technically is no 13th/Wilshire in Santa Monica (Euclid is between 12th and 14th.) But if it is in Santa Monica that is one of most expensive areas to rent on the west side of LA (north Santa Monica.) I'm moving to that area of Santa Monica from Chino Hills in a couple weeks. You could try finding a studio in Palms but it's going to be very challenging to find a decent apartment for $1k/mo. Here's a recent thread on "affordable" housing in that area. I've seen acceptable 1BR apartments on West Side Rentals that are commuting distance to that area for $1300 FYI.

Where? As above - no 13th street in SM (Euclid) or DTLA (Pico). And pico and Wilshire don't intersect.
