I hate to say this but the problem is that you can purchase a home now in Suffolk County for that price range. Maybe thats why its no selling? Good luck to you though!

You can't really say it's terrible but there certainly has been a lot of seepage flowing in from Hempstead and the surrounding areas. A once very nice jewish and italian community is really quickly turning into a run down extension of Hempstead.....sorry to say.
Mayfair comes from the name of a road that was laid between Hempstead Tpke and First Ave in Garden City in the 1880s. The name was given by the two landownders who laid the road, Francis B. Taylor and John T. Hanna, but there doesn't seem to be any local significance to the name other than the fact that such quaint English names were in vogue in that era and increased the attractiveness of the neighborhood.
I had just moved in to West Hempstead when the name change referendum was up for a vote. I think many people rejected the name change simply because of the hassle involved in having new addresses, etc.
You are not going to get anybody buying your house for $355k since somebody on this thread mentioned that she just bought a foreclosure (with similar beds/baths to your house) for $255.
yeha but alot of people don't want forclosures b/c they can be risky...ie. right of redemption
I'm not sure. I believe it went to a vote and was defeated.
