Does anyone remember "The Hidden Barn" what a place to go for a drink!! If you could find it

What about Bruno's, Sylvesters and the After Hours Clubs, The Cave in the Hamptons (going down those dark stairs kind of earie)

I worked at the Huntington Steak House.. is that still there? And Links Log Cabin, or the Cull House?

Does anyone still skate on Lake Ronkonkoma when it freezes over, we would go there and watch the daredevils drive their cars on the lake!!! waiting for one of them to fall threw the ice, lucky noone did.

I remember the Commack Skating Rink, also went to the Hicksville skating rink.
And I also did the Rocky Horror show at midnight We had so much fun!!

Here are the lyrics to a song that reminds me of my childhood and Long Island
This thread brings back so many great memories

We were born to mothers who smoked and drank
Our cribs were covered with lead based paint
No child proof lids no seat belts in cars.
Rode bikes with no helmets and still here we are, still here we are
We got Daddy's belt when we misbehaved
Had three TV channels you got up to change
No video games and no satellite
All we had were friends and they were outside, playin outside.

It was a different world
When we were boys and girls
Not just a different time
It was a different world

School always started the same every day
The pledge of allegiance then someone would pray
Not every kid made the team when they tried
We got disappointed and that was all right, we turned out all right

No bottled water, we drank from a garden hose
And every Sunday, all the stores were closed

It was a different world

Wink Baldwin

Grew up in North Baldwin, here goes.
Chat & Nibbles in the Food Fair shopping center. L.H. Martin, Woolworth, Tannenbaum's for gym uniforms (uuuggggly bloomers!!!) Steer-Inn for burgers. What about Baldwin Manor catering hall and the BMB (Baldwin Manor Boutique) which really was a head shop. Up north, Queen Rose 5 and 10 cent store, Busy Bee Cleaners, Dairy Barn, China Royal Restaurant in the King Kullen shopping center. And of course, the wonderful Danny's Haven!! Best bar pie on the planet.

amsm196, Selmer's is still there also! They did have a fire at one point but rebuilt/renovated into a more modern-looking building on the same spot. There is a small outbuilding in the parking lot behind it (maybe it used to be a garage, or maybe they added it during the renovation) that is used as a grooming center I believe.

On a related note, the Huntington Town House which is practically right across the road from Selmer's has just been sold; it will be torn down and replaced by a Lowe's. A shame when you think of all the weddings, proms, etc that were held there over the years (as far back as I can remember anyway!).

By the way, I finally remembered the name of the chicken-and-ribs place on Hempstead Tpke in E. Meadow that I thought was Zorns; it wasn't -- it was The Broaster House. Zorns was further west, closer to Modell's, Mr. Donut, the big dry cleaners', etc.
Haven't heard the Broaster House in eons. We would go there for dinner when we got good report cards in elementary school - they had the best fried chicken. Don't forget Potter's Pub and the Levittown roller rink. In that general area I also remember one of those little yellow film developing huts, what the heck were they called?? Fotomat????
