A few others to Mention- around the same time-
Solomon Grundy's ~RVC
February's - Elmont
Boardy Barn - forgot where that was--
by far~ Speaks~ was ther best.!
Does anyone remember the name of the bar/club that was in Farmingville on the corner of Waverly Ave and Horseblock road?! It was across from the shopping center with the twin movie theaters.
Now the theater is gone and it's a Family Dollar store and the club is now a small strip mall. I know back in the day it was a hoping bar/club with rock bands playing there on the weekends.
If anyone knows, please post. I have been going crazy trying to remember!!

Wow. I can't believe someone else remembers Solomon Grundy's. I agree that Speaks was a lot of fun. Used to go there all the time. Now, when I drive down Long Beach Road I can't picture where it was. Does anybody know what's there now?
Wasnt hammerheads in Elmont, I dont remember it being in Mineola or Levittown. FInally Michaels was in Plainview.
The Bar in Elmont where Dream Theater/{Majesty} (and many other bands) played was called February's .. Hemp tpke and Meachum/ Covert Ave across from the STOP20 Diner..!! → always a 3am hit..!!

Tom, you wont find it on Long Beach road, 'cause it was off Austin blvd. one block over. Actually the parking lot was on Austin and Speaks was on the water on Broadway. I think the cross street was Georgia. Drove by it while visiting this summer...and was surprised to see Speaks was razed(GONE) Flattened → and the parking lot was now a huge storage facility.!
sad- some good times down there---
