OMG it has everything to do with US as Americans. Especially the highest tax paying state in the nation. (or maybe the second highest taxpaying state next to California?)

I hope this forum is not heading downhill but it seems like posts are getting more political these days.

Whatever happened to Charity Begins at HOME? Our soup kitchens and food pantries are facing greater demands as prices continue to soar and our economy hits the skids. My heart goes out to the starving in other countries, but we have enough problems here to resolve, first!

With all due respect....I find that hardly heading downhill. Downhill is hiding one's head in the sand. Speaking about caring for others IMO is what being a human is all about. I don't care if it's in this country or any other country. It's about the human race as we know it today. How many of us are "finally" seeing some of the realities of our evil greedy ways? Seems to me unless it hits home or in our pocket books then most people don't think it exists. You don't necessarily see poison in the air or waters....until it's too late. It's time to wake up and stop pretending this stuff doesn't exist. It's not political...it's the future of your children and grandchildren but call it what you might.
I'm sick of debating this stuff...what's there to debate about...what's there to loose in cleaning up our act?
It's ok to talk about the housing markets or how foods gotten expensive on LI? Or which school on LI is best?
Guess what? All that is so far in back of what's really most important.
It's time to get back to common sense and the basics.
Time to take our heads out of the sand.

Amen Andy!

You know that expression....I swallowed the Red Pill? Will I did, and once you do you can't go back. I got my head out of the sand and it's hard to ignore things like the fact that Obama made a bill that went to congress where he wants to take American tax dollars and feed the world....and this doesn't effect long island how?????? I mean, as it is our tax dollars on Long Island are pretty much carryng the entire state. Lets now feed the poor in some other country while the people who suffered from Katrina are still living in hovels!

And half the people I see on these message boards are angry when you bring it up..or find it offensive to talk about Moderator cut: ..

We are in mucho trouble pretty soon.

Moderator cut: comment
this is it folks.
