Like you can't get good pizza and bagels in any of those other locales? Like they don't have great schools? Beaches or "pretty landscapes?" Hills lol? Proximity? It takes 10 minutes to commute to Downtown Manhattan from Hoboken. Where is that possible on Long Island? I'm not trying to attack the Island, but there's nothing that sets LI above the pack in any of those categories, and y'all keep repeating them like they mean something.
It is what it is. I know people from all over the country and - literally - the world here (India, China, Korea, Germany, Australia....could go on and on). NO OTHER PEOPLE are like this where they literally cannot conceive moving away from the place where they grew up, or their families. When I first moved here I would ask people "was it hard to move here? What did your family think?" and people were like "what?" as if it was a crazy question.
Yeah because LI is the only place in the country with good bagels, pizza, egg sandwhiches, beaches, shopping malls, etc...it's a ridiculous argument. I'm gonna spend half my life commuting so I can make my 200k a year to eat pizza and go to the beach.

Well, the egg sandwiches are hard to find elsewhere. We always get them when we're up.
I can’t believe this has gone so many pages. Who cares bottom line people clearly want to be here look at the trajectory of housing costs over the last 40 years. When I lived in Florida it took 5.5 hours to get to Usless parts of GA. 4 hours to Miami and there was tolls. The fact that everything takes time to get here is a moot point. It takes time to get places every where. Other states have tolls also.
For every one that moves there are people lining up to buy there house.
Seriously! I don't know why it bothers some people so much that others love Long Island that they feel they have to challenge us on our reasons! Damn, live and let live already!

Very true. It's pretty crowded here so a few leaving would probably not be a bad 'thing'. ? Oh, and one other major thing, YOU GET what you pay for.
