Why aren't Locust Valley schools of the same caliber as Great Neck, Herricks, etc.?

One thing I have noticed having recently moved to a neighboring town to LV is that the drive in some of the children isn’t as high as it is in other towns such as Jericho. Many of the kids have trust funds and quite frankly, don’t have to work as hard. They already have many of the connections to succeed and financially they aren’t worried. Yes, many do go to private school but not based on a school being mediocre. It’s instilled at a young age that they too will attend the same school as a parent, grandparent etc.

No doubt LV SD is not Jericho SD. And no doubt a very good number in LVSD head to private schools (for a variety of reasons). Matinecock, Lattingtown, Upper Brookville (all LVSD) that is nearly habitual. Bayville and some parts of LV village not so much. LVSD winds up looking a bit lower than some nearby districts (Jericho, for example) but still considerably higher than some other neighbors (Glen Cove SD and Oyster Bay SD).
