Yes, the Town Board blocked Sonic from building on Rt. 347, citing noise and traffic concerns. I'm glad to see someone is concerned about sprawl and over development, but last time I drove that section of 347, it wasn't exactly pristine wilderness. Makes me wonder if the right hands weren't greased.
That and, of course, local residents did not want another fast food establishment...

I am happy Sonic isn't going there but would love an Arby's in the area

Middle Country Rd (aka Route 25) and Alexander Ave was the proposed site -- NOT 347.
The issue was the proposed site on Middle Country Rd backed up private homes and the noise associated with Sonic. It had nothing to do with 'pristine wilderness'.
That's right by the mall. Anyone who buys a house that close to development shouldnt be complaining about some noise and congestion.
Congestion there is bad enough, didnt need a Sonic to add to it. If you have a counterpoint that is fine, but could you express it like an adult without being confrontational?
Egads! Another business wanting to open in a commercial zone?! The nerve! Where do they get these outlandish ideas? Tax base?! Who needs it!?
