I work in the copiague SD as food service worker in the cafeteria and School is still closed due to severe damage in both Copiague and Lindenhurst. I am being told we may be closed again all week. I don't have a permanent position there yet I am still part time. I haven't been down that way so it must be really bad the damage.

Finally went back to work today. The school lost all their food so we had to start fresh. I work the breakfast program at Great neck Rd elementary and today was cereal and milk only. Thankfully we got a milk delivery today. We had to borrow food from the HS who had back up generators and did not lose power or food.

Christie announced that there were unemployment benefits to be released fairly quickly for people who lost their jobs because of Sandy. Is there something similar for New York?

Glad to hear you went back, There might be some benefits available if you need them as per a poster mentioned below. Or the city could have paid the workers for at least some of the time missed maybe?

Very pleased to hear you are back to work. Just shake Joe Agosta down for some cash-he's loaded. Great guy.

Thanks actually I still collect UE from a previous claim and I got an extension in June 2012. It runs out in December. Because I work part time at this job I was still able to receive part time benefits which helped this week since I did not work last week.
