This is such a nice area and it goes to Copiague schools. I've heard on this forum so much to "stay away from Copiague schools". Can someone with that opinion, honestly tell me why they feel that way. Has it statistically shown to be a lot worse, is it unsafe, more issues that Lindenhurst. I am just looking for a pure comparison between Copiague and Lindenhurst schools but please, with real opinions and information rather than just picking between the two.
Are you sure that the Venetian Shores area, which is in the Hamlet of West Babylon ("Lindenhurst, NY 11757" mailing address) and not in the Village of Lindenhurst, is in the Copiague Union Free School District?
Among other things, the Census Bureau's online address search function also indicates in which school district an address is located.
I just came back to say that I was confused and I'm talking about American Venice which I thought was the same as Venetian Shores but apparently not. Okay, so SAME question except about American Venice :-) Sorry
I personally don't know about Copiague Schools first hand but I do know the areas of Copiague as my parents live south of Montauk Highway in Amityville which is right next to Copiague. In my opinion, south of Montauk Highway in Copiague is beautiful just as is Amityville. Now, the North areas are not that great. Anything by the water means $$. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of Copiague Schools and would personally not send my child to the district knowing what areas and surrroundings attend the district...just as I would not send my children to Amityville Schools if I lived in South Amityville.
Check out this site and it will tell you the ratings of the schools. Most Copiague elementary schools are only rated a 5 out of 10. When I was house hunting, I was only considering schools that were rated 8 out of 10. Good luck to you.
ETA: north Copiague is a very mixed area. It used to be Italian but now it is very mixed...polish, spanish and I believe some white. As for Lindenhurst, the school district is better than Copiague. I would consider moving to Lindenhurst Village over Copiague.
thanks. I never considered it becuase of the negativity I always heard but then yesterday, someone I know pretty well and I could kind of guess that they have standards similiar to mine and expectations, said that his son was going to Lindenhurst schools and they were not happy at all. They transferred him to Copiague and it has made a huge positive difference. I asked him the same question that I did in the post as to why he thinks in that case why Copiague has a bad rep associated with it and his opinion was that many people just dont like diversity in schools which Copiague he said, did have
Copiague north near the train station has always been a point of entrance for immigrants first Irish and Italian but now Dominican, Salvadorean, Polish, and Ukrainian. As you head south of Merrick road it becomes more of a traditional Long Island town. The American Venice which is really Lindenhurst is part of the Copiague school district. Yes there is a stigma around the level of diversity in the school district that Lindenhurst does not have, but it is a good school . Actually from what I know people who lived in the Venice always stuck together especially if you were from the same side as someone since there was the east and west Venice. The only thing you need to worry about in the Venice is the water level. There has always been issues with flooding in that area. Im not sure if it has been addressed more recently. Also, dont ask someone from Lindenhurst about Copiague because there is usually a rivalry between the two towns.
The American Venice which is really Lindenhurst ...
Regardless of whether or not a place has a "Lindenhurst, NY 11757" mailing address or not, only those places in the Village of Lindenhurst are in Lindenhurst.
