My parents bought their first house in Elmont on Biltmore Avenue across from the race track. I lived there from 1981-1986. I remember TSS, Argo (LOL remember watching Rocky 3 there and being so excited I ran all the way home).

I miss the Argo theatre. Mary from when the deli was still "mary's" Waldorff skating rink and Rotkamp's farm. saw the neighborhood change A LOT. Lived in Elmont from '73 to '87. My parents should've moved by '82 in order for me to have had all good memories....attended St. Boniface, and Elmont Memorial.

My dad grew up in Elmont in the 1950's & 1960's. He was a Paragon and used to hang out at the Midway candy store. His name was Pat Reff and he graduated from Sewanakah in 1967

When did Elmont start getting 'bad'?

My grandparents lived there until their deaths in the early 90's... It didn't seem too bad then.

I still live in Nassau and had family all from Elmont. My aunt still lives near Meachum ave. ATS is now a sports field. Elmont HS is now better than Sewanhaka. The Italian establishments-Guido's, cinelli's, sapienza bakery, oro puro- are still there but the residents are gone. Cross Island foods is still around. ABC farms as well but their produce is crappy now. Even though the neighborhood has changed, I still get that warm homey old and missed LI feel that is hard to find. LI has become full of uptight people, but Elmont still has its charm. I hope that warmth never leaves.

Mid 90s. I wouldn't say it's "bad" now. But it's seen better days.
