Hi everyone... been awhile.
My best friend from SC is meeting me in Vegas. We will have a rental car but we want to be able to eat as cheaply as possible cause we will be there a whole week, with her two teenage sons.

Any decent deals on/near or far away from the strip? I have heard over and over about Arizona Charlie's, but possibly that is just a breakfast deal?

Anyways we don't need fancy, but we don't want rotten places either

Suggestions very much appreciated!!!

the excalibur has an awesome buffet and it is cheap too . I know I used to work there and live there many moons ago . most places on the strip have cheap places to eat you just have to hunt them down or ask folks who work at the casinos I can guarantee you they know .

Yeah for the gasoline you're going to use driving around to find cheap places to eat off the strip, you may as well just find them on the strip. Some hotels have fast food outlets, and in some of the las vegas guides, you may be able to snag a 2-for-1 buffet coupon. Monte Carlo has/had Quizno's, Pizza, Burger King or McDonalds, and I believe a Chinese takeout. In between Casino Royale and...?? on the strip, there is a Chipotle, McDonald's, Denny's. Or, for the experience, take them to In/Out burger just behind NYNY off the strip.

Luxor is easy parking and has a food court upstairs. I havent been there in awhile but they had a McDonalds, Little Ceasers, Quiznos, and some other stuff.

Corner of Tropicana and Dectaur is China Palace...not gourmet, but edible. It's $6.95 for lunch and all you can eat.

Depending on your age, Mondays at Silverton there's a $5 buffet for 50+ (I think) and they often let you in for $5.00 even if you're not of age.

There's a In n Out on Tropicana and another on Blue Diamond right past Dean Martin. At the same place there's also Ohana Hawaiian BBQ (love that place) that has $5.25 BBQ chicken plates on Mon-wed-fri. I used to eat a lot and had a hard time finishing a plate. There's also a del taco, taco bell, and famous daves although famous daves isnt exactly cheap.

Also if you pass all the hotels on LV Blvd going south you will find a lot of the cheap places like panda express, etc. Go even further (right past silverado ranch blvd) and you'll find a food 4 less.

The Ellis Island has a cheap steak special. It's not on the menu (it's like $7 a plate for a sirloin, side, and beer or soda), the place is a dump, but the food is great. Terrible's has some deals too.

Thanks guys!
I guess I asked off the strip because the strip traffic is a nightmare, isn't it?? I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get to the Riviera to the Palms on a Saturday night... how much is THAT gonna cost me in cab fare? (this is before the rental car).
I remember there is a food court in Ceaser's actually that was pretty yummy and cheapy for Vegas I thought... The gas can't be THAT bad... last time I rented a car I drove out to Summerlin/Red Rock. etc etc and it really was no big deal but I appreciate the thought that we can stay on the strip and eat as well.

Also off subject, if anyone knows - I see these "pool passes" on EBAY... and IM wondering if they really work when you are not staying at that hotel. I know for most pools you have to get in with the room key, but these are like VIP passes that they hand out for clubs. I was thinking of purchasing some to check out the nicer pools but would they work does anyone know? and if so, is there a way to get them without purchasing them, like the clubs promote their clubs by handing them out? I dont know if that makes sense.... Anyways this vacation is more of a loungy relax time than party time for us. sick of the cold weather up in northern NV!!!

I'll second this - one of the best deals you'll find in town. I finally went to try it a few months ago & it's fantastic.

$6.95 for a filet-cut sirloin (10 oz I think) with garlic buttered green beans, choice of potato (mashed are great), salad & a large micro-brewed beer (think you can get their root beer too). They overcooked my steak once (I order medium-rare), but didn't quibble at all about fixing it. Other than that it's been great every time, all the food is good & the micro-brewed beer's pretty good too.

The casino itself is a dump (very local), but if you can get past that the meal's fantastic. It's on Koval just south of Flamingo, from Bellagio/Bills/etc go east on Flamingo to Koval (major bypass parallel to & east of the strip). Take a quick right on Koval & it'll be on your left. It's right next to (I think) a Super 8 motel.

You won't be disappointed. Just remember it's not on the menu so you have to ask for the $6.95 steak special.

Chipotle is one of my favorite places. Not fancy, but for $6 plus drink and tax you can even fill a teenager. There's the one on the strip mentioned above and another on LVB just south of the car rental place (along with a lot of other restaurants and the outlet mall).

If you ever get to the Downtown area, Triple 777 Brewery at Main Street Station has excellent deals, good food, big servings. You can bring your children in the restaurant area. California Hotel in Downtown has inexpensive, good food at the 24hr Market Place Cafe. The 24/7 Cafe at the Palms has excellent food and it is inexpensive. You pretty much have lots of options as far as inexpensive dining on the Strip whether it's in a food court, stand alone fast food joints or the cafes inside the hotels.
