I picked Smith's because of the choices listed, that's where I shop the most.

I also shop at 99c Only Store and Liborio quite a bit. Liborio for meat and veggies and the other store for butter, some veggies, and junk food.

I love Fresh & Easy, mostly because they have boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.97/lb in big packs mostly 2-3 times a month. In the summer, they make up awesome griller packs of meat for like $10.99, and their canned vegetables are almost always cheaper than Smith's & Albertsons. My second favorite is Smith's though....seems like Albertson's is always out of something I need.

You want to see expensive -- the former Albertson's up north are now Save Mart, and since the chain is headquartered in Modesto they charge CA prices here. And yes, I used to work there. Glad to be gone!

My Von's was a lot nicer than the nearby Albertsons. Albertsons has their act together more in Phoenix. There was also a 99 cents only store 50 meters from the Vons. They compliment each other very well. Rarely went to the nearby TJ's as F & E was closer, but once my 5 bucks off of 20 ran out, I rarely went there.
