Hi all,

We're in the process of researching houses for our upcoming house hunting trip. I've pulled the crime stats on the house we're looking at but it isn't synching with what I've read about 'iffy' areas on this board. There were only 9 crimes reported in the last 30 days in a one mile radius.

It's a gated community at the intersection of Hollywood/E Steward Blvd. Far east side of town. Subdivision is called Heritage Highlands. Seems to be well kept homes on 1/2 acre lots in the $100/sq ft price range (of course they were much more than that recently, but the one on the market now is about $100/sq ft.)

Any guidance on that area is appreciated.

The area is on par with many other part of Vegas. On the other side of Hollywood going up the side of the mountain are some very expensive homes.

I love that area, best views of the valley are to be had there. The sunsets are spectacular.

I haven't driven that area for about 8 years now and the views were great but we did notice in many of the areas, the housing was very, very mixed.

Hollywood up to a half mile west is fine. There is very little to the east. The views are spectacular. This is one of the well established Clark County half acre areas ..

The problems with the area are things like schools and services. You can easily run into trouble at the local supermarket, Walmart etc. You can evade all that by shopping out of the area near work or such. But it is a nuisance.

Good point about schools and services, stay away from Nellis Blvd. That is where many of the closest stores are to you, or Hollywood and Lake Mead area.

Thanks for all the input everyone. We've put the house on the 'possible' list since it is a beautiful older home, but may not make the cut once we drive the surrounding area after dark.

I was told that allot of movie stars use to own homes there , it was considered out of town during that time. Shopping is very bad and the roads are bad, but that area has the best views of Las Vegas bar none and there are some really beautiful homes in that area.
