I will be moving from northwest Ohio to Vegas to intern with the UFC mid-January. I have been scouring the internet for a few days now trying to find an affordable studio or 1-bedroom apartment in a safe area. I will be working a lot so I really just want a safe place to come home and sleep at night. I have found the search to be overwhelming considering I don't know the area all that well. If anyone could give me a starting place to look, or even what areas to avoid I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for your time!

edit: sorry I should have been more specific. I am hoping to stay in the 600-750 price range if possible.

you should be able to rent a small one bedroom condo in a half decent area for that money....what is the ufc? (pardon my ignorance).. what part of town will you be working in.. that plays a major factor..

Sorry about that. Yes, the Ultimate Fighting Championship and it is at 2690 W. Sahara. I found affordable 1-bedroom apartments at Rosewood Park. It is at 3225 S. Pecos rd. Does anyone have any info on this place or the area?

Thanks a lot.

Why would you concern yourself about a safe area. Your going to UFC. You should be able to kick some @ss on your own.

"Safe" should be used very loosely. In that specific area, there are many reported break-in's, vandalism, etc.; however, I have personally lived in that region and of course, a young man like myself is rarely harassed. Though, the farther west you go in the mid-region, the prices will increase but the aforementioned acts decrease. I can assume females, seniors, etc. may be more susceptible to attacks, but I don't think a UFC fighter has much to fear. Not saying you are a badass or anything lol, but appearances are a detrimental factor in deciding whether to harass someone or not. Your car has a good chance of being robbed though...

Crossing the Strip? Big deal, I do it all the time from Henderson. You just take Koval or Frank Sinatra and go in the back way to the Hotels.

To the OP, assuming you are young, I would recommend Henderson. Prices have come down a lot and I looked at a number of these places a while back and they are all quite good.

2690 Sahara is convenient from Henderson off of 15 (although taking the airport tunnel to Paradise from the 215 is not that bad, either). People complain about the traffic around here don't seem to know what bad traffic is. I've lived here 2 years and, other than the occasional accident tying things up, my commute rarely takes more than 5 extra minutes vs. any other time of day.

I sent you a PM. I found easily a dozen places I thought were decent values. Granted, I was willing to pay a bit more than you but the prices have come down and I narrowed it down because I value those with the biggest living spaces.

Moderator cut: personal attack The guy is an intern working on the west side of the lower strip. Paseo del Prado or close...just across the street from The Casino. He has two solid miles of low/moderate income to his left that is quite livable. Why on gods green earth would he/she want to commute to Henderson?

He or she is an intern who wants to live cheap and likely work ridiculous long hours...why complicate their life.
