Should they be able to ban people handing out pro-choice or pro-life material on the sidewalk?

Of course not.

You can't make an action illegal just because you don't like the message on the material being handed out.

Blaming the ACLU, lawyers and judges for adhering to the Constitution is completely misdirected.

I see that it is a matter of free speech. Next time I am accosted I will use my free speech. I am bilingual English/Spanish so I will give them my speech in both languages.

Not talking about throwing out the constitution. I'm saying that freedom of speech does not give anyone the right to harass me and shove pornography in my wife's or my kid's face, and leave all that trash blowing all over private or public property. Their pornography is not political or even social issue speech it is advertising. Advertising was my life for 32 years, so I don't disapprove of advertising. I do disapprove of harassing our bread and butter tourists as they try to make their way down the street. No one has the right to do that in the constitution that I can see. What mankind refers to as "justice" is IMO a joke. There is no logic to it. Lawyers, judges (which are just bad lawyers), and cops are all guilty of perpetuating crime and chaos just to keep their vested interests alive. They reason that if they actually did anything about crime they'd be out of a job, which is ridiculous.

My wife and I have been walking up and down the strip for over 30 years and I have never been harassed by them. In fact, that is the purpose of the card slapping; to get your attention so that you will reach your hand out to them and take their cards. And it is not the card guys who leave "that trash blowing all over private and public property." It is the unsuspecting tourists who reach for the cards and then throw the cards on the ground when they see what it is that is on them. If people are to be ticketed or arrested for littering, it will be the tourists, not the card guys. So once again, your anger is misdirected.

And speaking of harassment....

The only people who routinely and constantly harass me on every visit to Vegas are the timeshare salespeople who are stationed on the sidewalks and even inside the doors of some Strip casinos. And unlike the card guys, they won't just take no for an answer. They will follow you and bug the $hit out of you until you manage to effect your escape. Now, those are the people I'd like to see locked up for life for harassment!

They shove their cards at you. They are not waiting for anyone to reach out. They invade my personal space when I walk down the strip. I detest them.

If the right to freedom of expression were meant only for political or social issue speech then the constitution and bill of rights would have said so. As it is, advertising is just as much protected expression as is political speech.

Well, it's been a while since we did our semi annual Strip hike, but the last time they weren't slapping any cards, they were just shoving pornography right into your hands whether you looked at them or not. And I shoved it right back in their face. Now I don't mind seeing naked wimmin, but there's a time and a place. What they are doing gives Las Vegas a black eye.

But I'm sure you must know more than I do no matter what my opinion is and regardless of the fact that you don't even live here. Funny that you change your tune when it comes to legitimate sales people though. Makes me wonder.

Anyway, it's not anger; just making a statement about the so called "justice" system. In other words...there isn't any. Just Merchants of Chaos doing whatever it takes to keep their vested interest alive by making life miserable for everyone else. Take for instance the so called "Freedom of the Press". Freedom of the Press doesn't...or shouldn't...mean that I have the right to destroy the lives of innocent people in a newspaper or on TV just because I call myself a "reporter". But I know from being in the media, and being married to a reporter that gave up her life long dream because she got tired of being told to lie by editors, that that's what at least 90% of news people live for.

But having been in the business for 32 years apparently (to hear ordinary people talk) means I don't know as much about it as they do because after all they watch TV and that makes them experts.

True "justice", if there was such a thing, would include common sense. There is such a thing as intent to the law, and that is always ignored. If you heard some of the things the lawyers I worked with for many years had to say you wouldn't trust any of them...especially judges. And don't even get me started on how the "law" gets involved, where they have no business at all, in ruining peoples' lives

Something tells me that if those were $1 off coupons for a Big Mac...it wouldn't bother you as much.

That just goes to show you that you know nothing about me. I think people are entitled to walk down the strip without being accosted by any person regardless of what they are hawking. By the way, fast food is not my thing.
