Don't get the one recommended by your realtors.

I do not recommend you use Greg Pastuch with Associated Inspectors. He listed 2 things on our report that wasn't even in our house. All the pictures were right, but some of the write ups were off. We had our handyman go through the report to correct anything and there were 3 things noted by the Inspector that were wrong. Maybe Greg had a busy day and confused houses?

Hopefully some one will give you info on who to use.

I am surprised there have been no recommendations. I would like to have some within the next couple of days. I recently used All Star Home Inspectors who were alright but I always prefer to have choices. Thank you.

I used National Home Warranty on Mojave Road, 702-641-8888. Best thing about them was the inspection was free if you purchase the one year home warranty. And since they had to cover any bills they were very thorough.

I don't think I like the concept. For instance how does he deal with a 9 year old water heater? He writes it up as shot...while anindependent would describe it as still servicable for another 0 to 5 years.

Does he sweat the trusses in the roof? Or leak signs along the chimney?

I would personally be afraid that he is working for the outfit paying him...and not for my buyer.

I have had only one customer who wanted to do it and I talked them out of it. But I have seen a couple...one of which I thought was awful.

i do, especially since the pool should be inspected by a seperate qualified inspector

Note that the providing of pictures rather than words is in fact an industry standard done often to avoid liability. If they show it to you they don't have to write down exactly what they meant. Let you interpret the picture.

In general most inspector decline comment on a non functioning pool. But a good pool guy may offer insights. Try to get an inspector to offer an opinion on the state of the plaster on a pool. It is alway interesting.

If you wish to be credible here hang around a while. I and the others here all get taken to task from time to time. I will claim I do pretty well but you can find other views. But it is here for you to read and form your own opinion.

So hang around and contribute a bit and you will find the list extends credibility as it is earned. But no you get no points for a business degree.

Default Very helpful

Thanks for the insight olecapt! Your home inspection advice in this thread is very informative. Regarding posting to this site, or anyone one like it, I must say I will likely be one that doesn't stick around to rack up credibility. I find more value in reading comments and suggestions when I look for a subject, than posting them. But of course I don't take the comments as factual until I check the content out personally. Your thoughtful comments are appreciated.
