Buying a new KB home in Las Vegas. We want to hire our own inspector. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Which KB home did you buy and which area? We are thinking about buying one.

I used Spectrum Inspection Group for my house (Pulte, not KB) about a month ago. I talked with inspectors from three different companies before deciding to go with them. They are a little more expensive - it was $300 - but I felt it was worth it for the peace of mind.

Inspector showed up on time, was nice, and I felt he was pretty thorough (although this was my first time using an inspector). After he was done with the inspection, he spent about 30 minutes with me going over both good and bad things about the house, pointing out what was good, what needed to be repaired immediately, and what issues were part of routine house maintenance.

Also, the guy bounced a golf ball on every tile on the floor to check for loose/improperly mounted tiles. Kind of cool.

They also make the report available as a PDF that you can download and keep an electronic copy. This doesn't justify the additional cost but it is a nice bonus.

For what it's worth, I got the sense that the other inspectors would have done OK as well.

Good luck!
