I applied online for a job at the Venetian....took the test, etc... I rec'd an email on Wednesday saying there was a hiring freeze (understandable).. however today i received a call from them saying they want an interview.. soon.. pick a wednesday in december.. Could it be the 17yrs experience that i have that made them call even though there is a freeze? Any thoughts..

Not surprising.......even tho there may be a general hiring freeze, some positions are NECESSARY .....

What do you guys think about the future of the Venetian? Do you think it will recover within 5 years or go bankrupt before than? It's trading for less than $5/share, and just a year ago was near $150/share. I know stocks are all down, but most are not down this kind of percentage in such a short time.

It's never been near 150. And alot of stocks are way down.. imagine you had google when it was near 800, and now is 250.... imagine you had sirius radio which is down to 14 cents... imagine you had gm or ford ($4 and $2)... get my point...

I trade nearly everyday and I guarentee you that LVS was near $150 about a year ago, I remember regreting not buying it when it became public...I just checked...

$144.56 - Oct 2
$144.15 - Oct 29

Google hit a high of around $700 and is currently at $280, say it does go back up to it's high within 5 years, which would give you a return around 150%.

Now look at Venetian (LVS) hit a high of $145 and is currently at $5, say it does go back up to it's high within 5 years, which would give you a return around 2,800%

Do you see my point?

Yes stocks are low, but the possible return is by far the highest with LVS, which is why if you think the company will make it through the recession, it could be the investment of a lifetime.

no doubt... i also am a daily trader, my only problem is that i panic to easily... i bought ford at 1.70 watched it drop to 1.20, panicked (sp) so when it went back to 1.80 i sold, today its almost $3... so i actually think the venetian is a great buy but who knows with all these problems... i also think apple is a buy but the return isnt there for me since its $90 a share... Sirius is intriguing to me.. at 14 cents, i am so tempted to buy 3 or 4 thousand shares but heck, i have no clue what to do anymore... its like the car business, ive had a car dealership for 15yrs... 2 years ago, i could have told you what to buy and what is would be worth in 6 months, today, i feel like a beginner, my only insight at the auctions is dont touch a 06-08 american car unless you are a gambler...

I feel the same way! lol

Deep down though I know in 5 years I will regret not going all in now, but I don't know if I can trust myself to leave them alone until then. My biggest problem is I buy a stock...it goes up a little, then it drops and drops and drops and I panic. It eventually goes back to the price I bought it and I sell it because I'm afraid and then it goes up.

I've been buying up Vegas Sands (ok on a small scale).. but as you said above, it could be the investment of a lifetime! I honestly believe Vegas and its' casinos bounce back and these stocks will never be this low again. I hope it pays off.
