The rub of course is that both the Chat thread and the social group are linear and thus not suited to branched threads. And that is the source of the friction. A wonderful example is the poll which was actually a local thing for Indian Springs and does not really belong on a Las Vegas board.

I would suggest what we need may well be the chat thread but expanded into a sub-locale. Call it Las Vegas Chat...but with the full capabilities of a location.

You might suggest this as an alternative to the Administrator. That would satisfy the locals need for structure.

You might even hide the reference a bit so you had to know where it was to find it. That would remove any interference with the normal flow to the relocation thread.

Better yet...name it the Las Vegas Sand Box. And tuck it in some avaliable but out of the way location.

We are very close to a solution here. But the linear single threads don't cut it. How about an experiment to keep the site goals clean while not lousing up the ability of the locals who are very valuable to this site.

Note that this is actually a pretty exceptional place on a pretty nice site. I am aware of very few that work as smoothly in considered advice.

Good to see today. See that's what I like, so occasional that it is actually exciting!

That said, holy moley! the drivers out there are nutso! You would think they have never seen rain! The school parking lot was a joke! I just shook my head and watched the comedy. I would really hate to see it if it snowed.

It is a bummer for the students because their hallways are open and they have to cross the open courtyard to get to classes. My daughter said her pants were already soaking wet. Icky feeling. But that's Mother Nature for ya! It's just water!

I was telling my mother in law it is weird that we get excited for the rain, when a lot of people hate to wake up to another day with rain. I love it, plus it is making it seem more like the holidays!

And yes, crazy drivers in the rain!!! People forget how to drive in it since we do not have it that often!

I am with Dyn...and the big cat went out the office window and came right back in complaining.

If God had meant water to fall from the sky we would all live in Portland.
