At minimum, such fanatics are mere nuisances. At maximum, they run for office, get elected, and help metastasise government as the biggest public nuisance of them all.

You missed the part where this thread is not about driving drunk. Smoke 10 more cigarettes in the next 10 minutes and try to calm down, will ya?

Default Yes, it takes guts to quit a dangerous, nasty habit

And for those that have had near-fatal car accidents, many of those people saw the light and had the guts to quit that dangeous, nasty habit of driving a car as well. And many of those, who never smoked, were gasping for breath and crying for mommy when they made the decision to quit the habit of owning and driving a car.

Paying $7 a pack to kill oneself? Yes, there have been those unforunate enough too die in car accidents who paid $15k, $20k, $30k to kill themselves.

I don't smoke the cancer sticks from the stores. I quit that long ago. Now I roll my own with more natural, chemical free tobacco.

And I'll keep smoking, choosing to die from lung cancer rather than stick around for the enevitable nuclear holocaust. There'll be lots and lots of smoke around when that happens. Smoke from burning hair, burning skin, burning houses, cars, etc.

I really owe you an apology. If you truly do not smoke around non smokers, then I have no problem with you. The problem is most smokers DO smoke in public, and I am one of the rare people who are allergic to it. It really makes me sick.

Isn't it interesting, that these former smokers are so quick to mention close friends and relatives having agonizing deaths due to smoking, but will never mention a close friend or relative who experienced an agonizing death due to the dangerous, self-destructive habit of driving a car or dying a result of obesity, alcoholism or workaholism?

Death can come to any of us at the next intersection, a nonsmoking driver blowing through the next stop light and colliding with a recovering smoker.

I sure hope there wasn't someone rushing to 9/11 at the World Trade Center in New York City, speeding up to some high floor in one of those towers to brag to co-workers they just quit smoking over the weekend. Oh the irony of it!

Don't start with that, LVD. Nobody's FORCING you to hang out in casinos to soak up free booze all day. If you don't want to be somewhere where people are doing something that's perfectly legal in an establishment that permits it, don't go there. How hard is that to understand?

At least you appear to be closer to admitting that you're an alcoholic. Keep working on it. If you ever actually admit it and decide to take action, you just might earn some of my respect.

FAIL.......
"I was at a major casino on the strip playing craps a couple of months ago. I had been at the table for a few hours, and not one person was ever smoking at the table, even know it was busy. This guy joins the table right next to me. He immediately started smoking. I politely asked him to try to smoke away from me. His response was "this is the casino, I can smoke as much as I want!!!" Now, I never told him not to smoke, just to keep it away from me. Since he really was a jerk about it, I started building up anger inside. Once my eyes starting watering, and I started getting sick from it, I finally could not take it anymore. The waitress came by at that time, and I ended up throwing my whole drink on him ( the rum and coke only, not the glass) and promptly leaving right away. It didn't matter, security got me and now I am banned from this casino for the rest of my life because of his lack of courtesy and respect. He completely deserved it IMO, I did not."

I am a little confused on this? I have admitted I am an alcoholic many times. My screen name Las Vegas Drunk admits it right there.
