Heh, I never thought I'd see this thread again. I just spent $42 for a carton of M Reds. I was kinda shocked to have the reminder of how much cheaper they were a little while ago.

The sin tax, to me, is a good idea as long as the taxes are going to counter the additional medical expenses incurred by our awful habit. It'll be nice to see the soda/sugary beverage tax get going to throw it back in the smug faces of all you non-smokers, haha.

The day we left Vega I bought 2 apcks for the ride and it came to like $9.60, the day I finally arrived in NY I stopped at a local gas station by our new house and paid $6.50--quite a shock but it averages out

Cigarettes were going for about $5 per pack last I looked (I'm about 2 months smoke-free). Back in Chicago, the prices were getting ridiculous. $8 - $10 per pack was normal.

My wife and I figured out that we were spending an average of $400/month on cigarettes. That was enough for us to quit.

Great job on quitting. Personally, I wish cigarettes were $10 a pack here too. Maybee then people would think twice about smoking.

Yeah and I wish alcohol would triple in price too so people would stop drinking!
I smoke because it is my right to smoke. I am a considerate smoker, if someone doesnt like it I wont smoke around them.
I grew up with obnoxiuos drunks in my family, I hate alcohol and will never touch it but I dont go around telling people how bad it is.

That's because if someone drinks beside you it doesn't affect your health.

Tazz beat me to it. I do not forcibly shove alcohol down the throats of people around me, unlike smokers. I am also a friendly, happy drunk unlike your family is. So you became an obnoxious smoker, instead of a drinker, who cares...

Find someone who has no obnoxious habits..... They don't exist. And every bad habit affects SOMEONE else in some way. It's just not a perfect world. Adjust and learn to be tolerant. Fanaticism has it's own price to pay(about anything, not just smoking) and it's unhealthy too. Raises the blood pressure among other things.

Best price on ciggies I've seen in Vegas is at the Paiute Smoke Shop close to Main and Bonanza, I think. Anyway that's the general area. Right down the street from the neon graveyard. It's an Indian Reservation/tribal land. Right in the middle of Vegas. I was surprised and even more shocked they don't have a casino. They have tribal police even.
