How many of you are old enough to remember when seat belt usage became mandatory? The use of masks totally reminds me of it. People were crying out this is America, it couldn't possibly be enforced. So at first they said ok, you only get a ticket if you get caught doing something else. I can't remember what state it was, somewhere in the Midwest where we crossed a state line and my uncle made a show of taking his off while driving. I was like 14 and thought he must want to die.

Then when they made it mandatory with no restrictions people had pretty much accepted it. Mask wearing will be the same. You all can try to fight it, but eventually you will lose to public health orders.

The resort fees are still in effect for all casinos, not one has announced they will lower or end them, nor have any been removed from the booking sites. It may eventually be a competitive and marketing piece for them, but to this point nothing has happened and you would think if they were going to make changes they would have already implemented them.

Millennials are almost completely shut out. You can see the wealth increase and flatline - probably from the people like me who bought a house following '08. The rest of the Millennials can't make enough money to move out of their parents' houses or out of group-living situations. I know many, many millennials in their 30's, some even in their late 30's, that still live with several roommates because they cannot afford a place of their own.

There are next to no middle-class manufacturing type jobs so they're all pretty much either in high paying professional positions or poverty level retail positions with very little in-between. Also, for those who did get in professionally, they can't develop in their field because the Boomers don't retire, so the Xers don't get promoted, and the Millennials stay at the bottom of the corporate ladder.
Boomers had access to jobs and salaries that no other generation will have access to. Whenever a Boomer with a lucrative position retires, companies will either (A) add the Boomer's responsibilities to someone else and not fill the position, or (B) fill the position with an immigrant who will work for cheaper.

There's not really an end to this. Corporations control all aspects of government/society now, and their only goal is to get richer. They want you to be in debt so that you have to work for them. They don't want you to have any skills that would allow you to be self sufficient. By every metric they are succeeding. The Boomer hate comes because they embrace this corporate-greed mentality.

For which corporation do you work? Or is this an outsider's opinion?

There is really no question that seatbelts save lives though.

The data really isn't there for masks. N95 masks were designed as sanding particulate filters for carpentry. They're not designed for medical use.

OK no specific studies have been done but how do you explain why East Asian countries were able to do vastly better at preventing the spread of the virus once people started wearing masks? Most recent cases are traced to people who have returned from another country, not from domestic residents getting it in public. Mask usage along with some basic steps there almost certainly stopped community spread.

I'm old enough and you are right, people were outraged. It was one of the first laws I remember that made stupid actually illegal and everyone was shocked. Similarly, when cell phone usage whilein a car became illegal they used the secondary offense garbage (we wont pull you over for it, but if you happen to be pulled over for something else...) and now it is also is a primary offense. Slippery slopes keep getting slicker.

Doesn't that contradict what you just said? If masks work in Asia, why are they bringing the disease back here with them?

I doubt masks are the real difference. There are many socio-political elements at play in Asian countries that factor into this. For example, "saving face" mentality, and group-think. Also, those countries operate as quasi-dictatorships where they are locking/welding/boarding people into their homes who test positive or arresting them and hauling them off. That stuff isn't going to fly here.

I'm mean, we could take the Philippines approach to society and just have the police start murdering anyone who doesn't follow the edict of the day. Will that work for you?

That chart isn't making much sense to me. The oldest Millennials are close to 40, now. Also, the Boomer data only goes back to 35?

At any rate, it still shows the substantial difference in earnings. 30's and 40's should be prime earning years and you can see that reflected in the Gen-X chart. No "pop" on the millennial chart, though.
