I hate that buffets are so popular. Mediocre food, and lots of it, when we have a gazzilion good restaurants here.

Just another amenity for tourists. Like you, I rarely go to them. I prefer a small amount of really great food to all I can eat of uninteresting food.

When I go to a restaurant I rarely ever get full.
When I go to a buffet, I always get full. I feel like I get my money's worth at the buffet.

The wife and I eat very differently. It's hard to find a normal restaurant that has something for us both. Buffets make it easy.

That said, I don't go to buffets often.

I’m the opposite. I can’t eat much in one sitting, so a restaurant where I can get a doggy bag for half my food feeds me twice, while at a buffet, I lose money on top of finding the food mediocre. One exception though, a friend took me on a cruise and the buffets were often better than the sit down restaurants on the ship.

Buffets can be good people watching though. I saw a tiny little Asian gal with at least a foot of crab legs stacked on her plate. She couldn’t have weighed more than 100 pounds.

The worst part about the heat in Las Vegas, Laughlin, Lake Havasu and Phoenix is that it seems like it gets worse right after sunset...

It's like the earth spent all day taking in the sun's rays then, at night, when you think it'll get cooler, the heat starts to come back up out of the ground and you feel it on your hands, feet, chin, legs....it's unrelenting!

Summer nights in the Arizona and Nevada deserts are very, very difficult to get used to.

You mean you don’t like the feeling of your eyeballs baking?

To me, it's like a trick of Nature...

"Oh, it's dark out now, so let's go outside..."

(10 minutes later...)

"Eff that! ...turn the AC back on!"
