Just a stupid question:
I have a ceiling ducted AC system with the compressor and air handler on the roof. Would it be possible to add a swamp cooler to the existing duct system ? I live in a community where it would not be possible to add such a unit in a window opening.

I left my house at 3pm to go pick up a check on Sahara near the strip. It was 123 down Hollywood. Dropped to 121 halfway down Vegas Valley. As I got closer to the strip it dropped down to 114. I took the strip down to Fry's and it went back up to 118. Got back in my area at 6pm dropped to 122 on Hollywood.

There are areas in the country, considering Heat Indices, Air Temperature vs. Apparent Temperature, that are experiencing temp's higher than Las Vegas.

95 degrees with 70% humidity, you have a Feel Index, or Apparent Temperature of 124!

110 degrees with less than 10% humidity, you have an Apparent Temperature of 100.

I lived Near Fort Myer's, FL, for a summer, one time, so I know what Feel Indices are all about!

So that's how I "cool off" in Las Vegas in the summer time, thinking how much more miserable it can be in the Deep South or even NYC during a heat wave in summer.

Yeah. I have lived in Florida and NC. I will take this dry heat any day over that humid crap.

I'm not complaining when I post, I just think it's cool how much temperature changes in a small area, and how high it gets.
123 is probably the hottest temp I have experienced so far. Standing out in it isn't bad at all. I'll do that all day. I just don't like getting into the car.

When it comes to Heat Indices, Apparent Temp's, numbers increasingly become insignificant.

I can work up a good sweat merely going to San Diego and Tijuana in the summer time, with their 50-60%? humidity and the temp is only in the high 70's/low 80's.

I've even been in San Francisco when the temp hit 75 and even that put me into a sweat!

The law of the desert: the longer you live in the desert, the more sensitive your body becomes to humidity!

TRUTH!! I was in Orlando a few summers ago and thought I was going to die. The humidity was insufferable.

Oh so true...life long desert brat here. I'll take 110 and low humidity over 85 degrees and high humidity any day of the week...

Those who have lived in the Desert too long, are smart enough to plan their summer vacations accordingly: no summer vacations east of the Rocky Mountains!

Family reunion every July 4th back in Minnesota: I went once, in 23 years, and I was the crankiest family member at the reunion!
