The economists are at MIT, Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Chicago, Stanford, and Berkeley.

Each economist replies on a scale: Strongly Agree, Agree, Uncertain, Disagree, Strongly Disagree, No Opinion. They also rate how strongly they rate their answer.

Academic studies always show this. Empirical evidence from actual communities may differ (such as Nashville).

You don't think the academics are looking at empirical evidence to base their opinions on?

I don't get the San Diego angle at all. It's not really a big improvement over Las Vegas from TV market as LA teams are "home" teams all the way to the end of Orange County. There may be a few more Raider fans there, but it's questionable how many fans would switch to rooting for a forever rival. That would be the textbook definition of fan apathy as at least half of San Diego probably refuses to be Raiders fans. Lastly they aren't getting any money out of the public so how that becomes workable is beyond me.

The Raiders need to stay in the East Bay, plain and simple. Maybe they go just outside Oakland, but it's still a ridiculous market to walk away from and NFL owners know it.

Here's one thing you can take to the bank: Everything you're hearing right now about the Raiders is BS, being floated by entities with competing agendas (including the pro and con sides of the Vegas debate). The real deal will happen behind closed doors. As always, follow the money...

This isn't the only disadvantage the Raiders would have over the Chargers in San Diego. Los Angeles was a Chargers TV market, even after the Rams moved. The Raiders wouldn't be able to claim that designation. That is a massive market of exposure the Raiders would miss out on. The Chargers struggled enough.

No doubt that gambling helps them to a certain extent, but this is a bit of an overstatement. Most people just like the entertainment aspect as well as rooting for the local team and showing hometown pride. Most sports fans probably have never wagered a bet or even played fantasy sports. Gambling also presents a potential danger, especially historically. Personally, I think it should be done legally and more out in the open, but I'm not a gambler myself or a fantasy sports guy.

Ruvo Brain Center needs that land for its much needed expansion. It already has the design drawn up by Frank Gehrey. We need the health care more than a stadium. Interesting the NFL players are all being tested by the Ruvo Center to see how head injuries will affect them as the age.
