I think it is a universal truth that most, if not all, believe they are a better driver than the person next to them on the road.
You summed it up!

I am a photographer - I used to drive all over the United states shooting motorsports - I have been to and driven in every state with the exception of Alaska, Montanna and Maine. Every place has accidents, every place has close calls, speeders, wreckless individuals, drunks, druggies, scoff laws, and genuinely good drivers, even too good ( slow drivers )

Accidents are random moments of chance that culminate into a bad day. people are quick to make blanket judgements about a place, especially when they are involved in an accident ... if you lived in a rural area all your life with no accidents and then moved to Vegas and got in 2 within 3 months, its more likely because you arent accustomed to the more aggressive driving that is here ( compared to a country road )

I have lived here for a year and a guy wasnt paying attention and at a light he slowly creeped into my rear bumper - no damage. I expect I will have more accidents in my life, as long as I am not careless and pay attention like I would anywhere I drive, the odds of staying clean are good - at least the same as any other city of 2 million.
