So exactly how is this not going to be a traffic nightmare? Has anyone every had the experience of leaving the MGM after a major event? How about the Venetion when the SANDS has an event going on? I say one experience with that and it's a wrap.

It's the event that cause the traffic, not the parking, per se. The traffic was going to happen anyway.

It's going to make leaving these events worse when you add on the time it will take for people to pay on exit, the delay of the gates, and the inevitable idiots who can't figure out how to use the exit system.

^THIS!

I was at CES and it's a nightmare... even when you find a distant FREE lot! This really is a fiasco in the making. Getting out of a pay lot in a rush of people could take well over an hour. Think New Year's or Halloween or any decent-sized concert and then make it twice as worse with everybody trying to pay their exact amount on the way out. I hope the suits realize what is about to happen. The inconvenience alone makes me not want to deal with MGM parking. I'm definitely "out."

So, while working on Top Golf, we parked in an MGM employee garage. About 120 workers. at 3:00 when we all got off, it took a long time to get out of the garage and there was no pay bs. If we had to pay, it'd take twice as long. I can't imagine 1,000 or more people trying to get out at the same time.

Different situation downtown vs my understanding of what MGM wants. MGM is pushing the envelope much further in my view as MGM wants overnight hotel guests to pay for parking. That's not how it works downtown. Stay at the 4 queens or Main Street Station for example and there's no charge for parking for guests that stay overnight. I understand many(all?) downtown casinos do the same thing. And places like the El Cortez allow free parking in their main lot without having to stay and no validation necessary for that matter.

My understanding is the pay to park starts in April I assume with the opening of the new arena. I would think they would have a dry run with an event going on at the Grand Arena first.

Come to think about it that place is going to be a mess if two events are going on at the same time. People will need to get to the parking deck early. This should get interesting. The way people can be especially when it's hot the best fights may just be in the parking deck trying to get out. You Tube material is coming. Viva Las Vegas. What would Elvis think?

I drove into Flamingo self parking this afternoon and there was a security guard stopping EVERYONE and doing a survey. 4 questions:

- Are you a hotel guest?
- Are you a local?
- Are you gold, diamond, or 7 stars? Which one?
- What are you planning to do at Flamingo today?

Seems like they are trying to collect data to start their own parking fee setup. The guy in front of me got spooked by the security guy and u-turned out of there and drove off after waiting to turn left for 45 seconds with no cars coming. Needless to say I broke out the horn a few times.

I really hope there is a validation option because this would kill the strip for a ton of locals, me included... and I go pretty often still. I'm still new in town though.

Great.

You gotta love what the local duopoly has done for the strip.
