I live in Centereach LI that kosher deli in the mall closed its now Burger Palace owned by Booby Flay. The one behind the mall is still open though.

Maps like that exist?

There is usually a red line around black neighborhoods.

I live in Henderson and have lived in the NW area also. There is more to this valley than Summerlin. Personally I hated the traffic and congestion out there and the houses in many parts of Summerlin are jammed together like Sardines.

As far as religion goes, this is one of the first places I have lived where no one seems to care what religion you are or even ask.

My family currently resides on long Island, ny. We are contemplating a move to Las Vegas. We are reform jews who are looking for a community with the like. I was told to look at Summerlin--particularly, the ridges. (we have 3 kids under 5)

Can some of you share some insight into the lifestyle in Summerlin or surrounding areas.

Things in NY have become unnecesarily hard. Traffic is out of control, taxes keep going up every year, you hardly get anything for your money real estate wise, and the winters keep getting colder and colder.

We are looking to vegas thinking that with all the hotels, you have "NY food and shows" and excitement combined with warm weather, less taxes...

thanks in advance for the insight...

ex-LI'er here, so I have an idea where you're coming from. I left LI in 1988 for some of the same reasons you mentioned. Best thing I ever did...and have never looked back.

The touristy parts of LV may have a fake NY-type of feel...but once you get off The Strip and out to the sprawl...it's all a very southwestern feel. If you're planning on living in a suburb development...the extreme closeness of houses is about the only thing similar to LI.
